Sustainability meets Fashion with skilfully made coats perfect for the cold winter months
~When buying outerwear you want warmth & comfort, but these days there is no need to compromise on your sustainable and ethical values
~ Winter coats are investment buys and a sustainable one might be more pricey, but then think how many times you will be wearing it in the winter months and years to come.
It is cost per wear, plus you are making a happier decision for yourself & the planet at the same time #HYHP 😃🌍
❇️ Look out for the following:
~ The Outer Layer
Most waterproof coat designs are made out of synthetic materials e.g. polyester or nylon, which are essentially plastic. Instead choose recycled synthetics
~ When you looking for a warm coat wool is usually the warmest of all of the natural fabrics. BUT make sure that it is ethical & kindly sourced
‼️Shearers are usually paid by volume, not by the hour, which encourages fast work without any regard for the welfare of the sheep.
~ The Stuffing
Whenever possible choose recycled and/or ethically-sourced down filling. Once they’re considered no longer profitable, these birds are sent to the slaughterhouse
‼️ As documented in a @ PETA exposé, geese & ducks are often plucked alive so that their down can be stuffed inside outerwear, bedding, & other products
