Follow your bodyline - avoid details around bust, tummy and hips. Keep detail in top and lower thirds.
Every body shape has its own characteristics and silhouette, which needs to be addressed when choosing your clothes. The aim of choosing the right clothes is to balance your silhouette. You may not be able to follow all the fashion tends that are out there, but nowadays there are so many trends in fashion that there is something available for every body shape. So, don't get sidetracked by falling in love with a style and look that doesn't match your body shape:
Choose lower and wider necklines like scoop, square, large V-neck or sweetheart.
Cap (avoid these if you have big arms except in the most informal of settings), length, above the wrist, built in shoulder pads (which ensure that your clothes will hang from the shoulders), wrist length, flared or draped.
A well fitted bra is a must, simple lines, avoid details and fuss, empire line or styles that go in under your bust, open front, opt for zips at the side or back.
Single button - ideally placed under your bust and above your tummy, simple empire line or straight line that hangs from your shoulders, should have a deep neckline or be worn open, shoulder pads.
A-line, cardigan style, worn open, big lapels (that sit on your dcollet and not bust line), shoulder pads, vents in the back.
A-line, wear dress designs which take attention away from the tummy.
Flip, A-line, panelled or box pleats but they need to start at a point below your tummy, side fastening and flat fronted.
Flat fronted, wide leg, fastened on the side and should not cling to the body.
Simple denim styles in classic boot cut, wide leg or flares are best. Stick to clean lines without any extras. Darker colours in jeans are best.
Opt for chunky shoe styles, wear colour and details in your foot wear, medium to high heels, wedges or platform shoes work well.
Handbags are better than shoulder bags. Keep size medium to chunky.
A halter neck is suggested for swimwear, as it's able to support fuller bust. Wear underwired cups and thick straps to help with bust support. Low cut bikini tops aren't recommended because they show off the waist, which isn't the best feature for apples. Try a tankini or vest top that covers the middle and isn't too figure-hugging. For more cover use a sarong. Details on the shoulders draw the eye towards your face.
To achieve harmony and balance you need to use light to medium depth colours near your face. Don't overpower your natural colouring with combinations that are too dark and always wear the darker colours of your palette with lighter shades.
Wear two light colours together or a combination of light and dark but don't wear two dark colours together. Always aim to have the lighter colours nearer your face.
"Style is very different from fashion. Once you find something that works, keep it" Tom Ford
Your personality is what pulls your whole look together. It's your personality that dictates your style, which is your own interpretation of fashion and how you like to wear clothes together. If you ignore your personality and only buy clothes because they are the latest must haves or trends of the season, you will lose your identity and your look will lack focus and your personal signature style.
As a result of this you won't get the best value for your investment buys, because you've tried to copy a look which might be great on others but isn't right for you. The clothes you wear and how you wear them are influenced by factors such as: age, build, life style, environment, budget, culture and personal preferences.
As you progress through life, your look will change many times. Knowing your style personality will enable you to feel comfortable in your outfit, whatever the occasion.

Today the fashion world is very much driven by celebrities and what they wear, which is a tricky business. If we as a customer fall in love with the outfit or the look of a celebrity we want and desire what she is wearing, because it is creating the idea it will look as great on us as it does on them. And here it is where it gets messy, because e.g. a beautiful dress is not going to look simply beautiful on us because it is beautiful. The secret is here in the style and in the shape of the garment. Do you share the same body shape, height, feature and age? Are you comparable to her, so you can draw an adequate comparison if that dress will look the same on you as on her? Let's you do and let's assume you look even a like her you will still end up being the copy and not the original. When it comes to looking good, it's not your size or shape that matters, it's the fit of your clothes and if they create the needed visual balance. Wearing the right clothes shouldn't be about following the latest fashion trends; it should be about choosing what actually suits you and what makes you feel comfortable and confident.Since we have all our own DNA and dress in our own unique way. This way you stop comparing yourself to others and you stop feeling insecure because you are wearing the right clothes for you body shape. So, my advice is take celebrities looks as an inspiration how you can incorporate that trend and/ook for your body shape, personality and life style.
"At forty, women used to exchange youth for elegance, poise, and mysterious allure, and evolution that left them undamaged. Now they measure themselves against the very young with defences that can only be described as ridiculous" Coco Chanel
Dressing right for your age doesn't mean you need to stop following fashion! Who doesn't want to look younger than they actually are? However dressing inappropriately for your age can be tacky and make you look desperate for attention but above all it is ageing you! You simply can't wear the same clothes in the same way when you wear younger - even if you still fit into a size 10, even if you still have the killer legs and a great cleavage! Dresses that are too tight can make you easily gaunt, a killer for mature women. Nothing is more of a turn off when you see a woman dressed trendy and sexy until you look her into the face and it doesn't reflect they age she is dressing and aiming for. When getting older it is crucial to interpret fashion trends for your age so you look current and modern and therefore younger.
