How to choose the perfect white for your wedding dress

Which white dress will flatter your personal colouring?

Once you know your perfect white you can start to think of the shape of the dress and begin to colour coordinate your bridesmaids, your mother, the flower girls, your flower bouquet and your table decoration for your reception and so on.

You can’t start early enough choosing your personal perfect white for your wedding dress. It is the first decision you need to take before taking any further planning towards choosing your wedding gown.

There are so many whites to choose from like pure white, off or soft white, pearl white, ivory, champagne, creamy, oyster, white with pink, blue or silver undertones. The "white" choices are big and there is something for every woman, whatever their personal colouring and age. Also, in recent years bridal designers have designed dresses with a second colour in the details e.g. embellishments, wedding sashes and belts. Vera Wang made her name by designing black sashes belts going with her white wedding dresses, which became her signature style. Brides simply love to incorporate their favourite colours in the form of belts, shoes, and jewellery and hair accessories . These colours often visually match with her bridesmaid’s dresses.

The right white will balance your outward appearance and make you look radiant, vibrant, healthy, and dynamic – making you look your best on your wedding day.

Wearing the wrong white will make you look pale, tiered, washed out, lined, baggy-eyed or it might as well overpower your look. You don’t want to take that risk – especially when you are taking the “forever lasting” wedding pictures, which include as well close-up shots

You want especially pay attention to the right white when you are choosing a wedding dress with high neckline or a veil to go along with your wedding dress. These items sit close to your face can easily make or break your appearance. In the event you should choose a white that you love, but doesn’t suit you so well – meaning loving a colour white over suitability – then choose a lower neckline, or an off the shoulder dress or strapless less wedding gown and best to avoid wearing a veil altogether.

In order to be certain to have chosen the right white you need to know what your dominant colour is. Your dominant colour is depending on your skin, eye and hair colour. Make sure when you are buying your wedding dress, that your hair colour wont’ be changing when you get married, because that will affect your dominant colour.
