Choosing and wearing a leather skirt is not a light hearted decision, but one that reflects your personality and suits your signature clothing. The classic straight or tulip curve hugging skirt can be worn in many different hem and waist lengths to achieve a variety of looks. The pencil skirt first designed by Christian Dior in the late 1940′s has made a huge comeback – the difference is you will see them this season available not only in neutral but as well in bold colours. The ideal fit should hug the curves of the body yet it should have enough room and comfort to walk and sit easily.
In contrary to many rumours the pencil skirt is not versatile for many body shapes no matter how you accessorise it. You can change the tone by wearing a T-shirt versa a blouse, but it won’t change the rules about who can and who shouldn’t wear it.

Best practise for how to wear leather pencil skirts
It is not in its nature to provide a style fix, but instead to highlight your curves and put them in plain view. Since it is following your body shape it will either complement your curves or do the exact opposite.
- Furthermore it is only a choice for women with great shaped legs. The rule of thumb is the narrower the skirt and the more style details it has the slimmer the leg shape must be in order to be put on display. The hemline of a pencil skirt can vary, but keep in mind the longer it is the longer the leg line must be in order to keep the theme and shape of the pencil skirt. Also not a style that will work well on plus sizes.
- Another feature not to forget is the waistline of a pencil skirt. Long waist lines and/ or busy details in the waist line can only worn by women who have a long waist. That means if you are short in waist then choose a low waist in your pencil skirt.
- But above all it has to follow and complement your body line and shape. Leather is not a forgiving material. Wearing leather should fit and sit like your second skin!

Now that Christmas and New Year has passed we start to think again about beach holidays and beach fashion. Beach life or Pool life we need a swim wear that brings out our ” chocolate side” . For every body shape there’s a swimsuit that will flatter in all the right places, so that you can step out with confidence in your swim wear and can enjoy the sun and fun. There are so many choices- some will show more back and less tummy, others show a bit more cleavage or thigh. Show off your best assets and conceal the others. When choosing your swim wear, your aim is to create the illusion of having a visually balanced body. Wearing swim wear does n’t give you a place to hide, so it is important to wear what works best for you rather what is most popular with your friends, fashion or is the latest “It Wear”.
The problem with understanding your body shape is that most women focus on specific area (i.e. problems zones such as the tummy, arms, bottom, thighs etc), which can cloud their judgment when it comes to seeing the whole picture. It’s important to view yourself as a whole so that you can define your body shape.
1.The Neat Hourglass
Goal: Show off in style your perfect body!
- You can wear any swim wear you like but it would be a shame not showing off the curves and figure you have.

2. Full Hourglass
Goal: You need to wear shaped and fitted lines in order to follow your body line, but avoid any bulk and volume around your feminine curves
- Remember you have already got , so there is no need to add drama with strong patterns or style details. All you need are style lines that follow your curves!

3. The Pear
Goal: You need to balance your top half with your lower half by choosing swim wear that make your shoulders look broader and keeps the attention upwards, so it will visually minimize your lower half.
- The most important rule is: The drama and details stay on top- meaning in our bikini top!

4.The inverted Triangle
Goal: On your bottom half you need to wear clothes that make your hips look broader, so that you create visual balance with your broader shoulders.
- For this body shape the rules are the opposite to a pear body shape. The attention has to be drawn away from the top

5. The Apple
Goal: Follow your body line – avoid details around bust, tummy and hips. Keep detail in top and lower thirds.
- If you are self conscious about your tummy try one of those fabulous, tummy, control panel, swimsuits: they really work wonders.

6. The Lean Column
Goal:You need to create the illusion of a waist and add roundness to your shoulders and hips
- In general it is all about adding volume at the right places.

7. The Rectangle
Goal: You need to create the illusion of a waist and soften your angular shape in shoulder and hips
- Asymmetric styles will work like magic for this body shape.

Everyone speaks about the ” the little black dress”. But what about the ” black skirt”? Wearing a black skirt that works for your body shape is and will be always an investment buy, because it is so versatile creating various outfits for different occasions and as well it is feminine, comfortable and chic! Simplicity and elegance will never go out of style so the little black skirt is definitely a keeper. But which is the best style for you, and what do you need to look out for when you’re shopping for that perfect fit?
When it comes to looking good, it’s not your size or shape that matters, it’s the fit of your skirt on your body shape. Wearing the right black skirt shouldn’t be about following the latest fashion trends; it should be about choosing what actually suits you best and what makes you feel comfortable and confident. When choosing you best black skirt t he choices are great since they come in different styles, lengths and patterns.
Here are some tips on how to find your perfect black dress- once you have found the one that works best for your body shape it is such an all rounder since you can wear it with everything. It is so much easier to dress it up and down than a little black dress, so you can make it work for any occasion.
Inverted triangle
- A-line , tiered, volume or dropped waistlines work well. Details such as panels, box pleats or vertical lines at the top ending in a full skirt are good. Skirt lengths can be extreme from very short and flared, to long and flowing.

Lean Column
- The slimmer you are the shorter you can go in your skirt (but keep in mind what is the most appropriate – both for your age and the occasion). Good shapes are full skirts, slight A-line, tulip skirts as well panels and drapes work well.

Rectangle
- Asymmetric, crossover styles are best but an A- line or with a flip style works as well.

Apple
- Flip, A-line, panelled or box pleats but they need to start at a point below your tummy, side fastening and flat fronted.

Pear
- Straight tapered knee length or below the knee and mid calf; bias or skirts with flip are most flattering.

Neat Hourglass
- Again you can be very flexible in your choices. You can wear straight, A-line, pencil skirt, panelled, flip, dropped waistline, bias cut, pleats, waistbands, full skirts etc as long as they have waist definition.

Full Hourglass
- Flip, bias or tulip style that are adjustable at the waist, pencil skirts (best with a split at the back or side). Best hemline is knee length or longer. It is all about following the shape- the simpler the style better to show off your curves.

From runway to street style, there is no questioning the popularity of the maxi skirt. The maxi skirt is surprisingly versatile- even more than the maxi dress, and with the right styling pieces, you can wear it anywhere from the office to a weekend brunch or to a chic party. You can pair them with almost any top , shirt, t-shirt blouse, camisole ,jacket , blazer, jeans ,leather jacket ,cardigan, shrug or shawl- in your closet. Another advantage of wearing maxi skirts is that you get to hide your legs effortlessly while also allowing you to showcase other features you like best about your body. They are simply perfect for layering, but remember the challenge is wearing them without looking overdressed as well the proportions are key to making this item work on your body shape.
General tips how to wear your “Maxi Skirt:
- Shorter women should choose high-wasted maxis over low waisted skirts- it will elongate their leg line visually. As well slimmer skirts look better if you are short, because if you get one that has too much volume, it could take over your frame and have the opposite effect. Instead of looking slim and tall, you would look shorter and bulkier
- Find the right length. Ideally, the skirt should just brush the tops of your shoes, so shop for the length appropriate for the shoes you plan on wearing that day.
- It is just another myth that as long as you get the right size in your maxi skirt and it covers up your lower body that you don’t have to worry about its shape and fit, because it is all the same. Style is nothing without a fit. You are creating the wrong attention to the wrong features and creating the wrong effect to your visual body balance. So, make your next Maxi Skirt into a keeper with maximum impact, so you can wear it many versatile ways!
Neat Hourglass: Any style goes

Full Hourglass: Don’t hide your curves behind high volume and clutter. Show off your curves by following your body shape. You have already got the attention because of your curves, so don’t out do them with patterns through out the skirt. Less is more.

Apple: You need to choose designs which take attention away from the tummy. So no to high waisted or belted skirts. Also you need to visually balance your fullness in your tummy area. Avoid narrowing and voluminous styles.

Pear: Skirts even if maxi skirts are not easiest and best fashion items. In order to avoid attention on the thighs opt for high waisted skirts versa low waisted, accenutate your waist with belted styles. Avoid details, volume and patterns or any other attention seeking styles since they will add volume to your fullest part. Choose clean, clutter free styles such as an A- line style.

Inverted Triangle: has exactly the opposite rule to a pear. That means skirts are great for this body shape. The louder, busier, attention seeking- the better will they balance out the broader shoulder frame. Full skirts, flared skirts, fish tail, tired skirts, dropped waist skirts, colour blocks, sequin, strong floral pattern anything goes as long as the style and cut is not subtle or has a narrowing shape. Play up to your strength with maxi skirts.

Rectangle: You need to create the illustion of a waist. So stay clear as well of belted or high waisted styles since they will only accentuate your straightness and make you look boxi. Better styles are low waisted or dropped skirt styles as well asymmetric styles are great. Be careful with horizontal stripes since they easily highlight your straightness in the waist. Rounder patterns like floral or animal print are always better than abstract print. It will just make you more angular. Remember you don’t need edges but curves at the right places.

Lean Column: Need to add roundness and volume to their shape. So, any clutter and volume in the maxi skirt works well. This is the only body shape that can wear the fashionable ballerina skirt. Straight and clean lines need another thought, because they can make them quickly look like a tooth pick if they don’t balance it out with rounder patterns as floral print or polka dots.

Scarves are the perfect accessory to spring up your outfit. .Scarves will pull the whole outfit together with style, design and colour. Plus they are very versatile since they can be turned into any number of shapes and designs to accompany your clothes for any occasion.
Important here is who can wear which style, type and length of a scarf. Scarves attract focus and attention to you, so you want to make sure it is complementing your body shape.

Best practice who can wear which type of scarf
Experiment with scarf lengths to find the right size appropriate for your body shape. Scarf lengths can be determined by the amount of folds there are, knots made, how many times it goes into self-made loops, and so on. For example, you can make one side shorter than the other, or have crisscross patterns for special lengths.
- The smaller busted you are the more easily you can wear long scarves, chunky scarves with bright colours or strong designs around your bust area- whether in amount of folds or knots.
- If you have a short, wide or short wide neck you should be avoiding any scarf fashion and use them only for keeping you warm in the winter.

- The smaller and thinner your neck the more detail you can take in that area- no matter if you are wearing a neck tie scarf or, chunky knit or knot around your neck.
- Inverted triangle body shapes need to choose their scarves carefully in order not to add more volume to their broader shoulders. Best is to wear neck ties, short or medium length scarves in solid colours, that fall straight down the neck. Important is to avoid any styles that will sit or wrap around the shoulder broaden them. Avoid as well any pattern and clutter that creates volume on the shoulders.
- Full hourglass and apple body shapes should choose scarves of medium length and wear them best in folds up in their neckline. Ideally they shouldn’t lie over the bust neither should they be placed or dangling over the tummy area. Best way of wearing scarves here are off-the- shoulder by choosing long and wide scarf styles or as well shawls.

- Rectangle should be choosing “round” shapes in their pattern like floral or polka dots to create visual balance. Best styles are folds up or knots, which will help to create visual balance here.
- Pears should keep the attention to the upper part with their scarves. So, best is to wrap chunky, long, scarves around the shoulders or make many folds up around the neck. Avoid wearing the scarves straight down the neck. The bigger, chunkier, louder the better for them. As long as they to the upper part.
- Lean columns can wear what they like. Since they need to create volume and roundness to their shape it will be best to wear chunky styles and busy pattern that create volume and clutter to their neck, shoulders, bust, waist, waist, hips and thighs.

Jeans might be great multi taskers, but even they aren’t miracle workers. Don’t expect to buy one pair that will cover every occasion, from glitzy dinner to lazy Sunday morning. Work out which wardrobe job you want your jeans to do and buy accordingly – no single pair will do it all!
Firstly, keep your jeans current and sharp looking! They might have been in fashion for decades, but that doesn’t mean you can buy one pair and wear them for ever and ever. Jeans (like most clothes) do have a sell by date! Nothing will date your look faster than an outmoded style of jeans.
When buying jeans, you are not only selecting a specific cut with which you feel comfortable, you are choosing a “style” with which you should identify.
Make this decision with knowledge of the styling options and an understanding of the best fit for your body type. The aim of choosing the right jeans is to balance your silhouette.
Lean Column: You need to create the illusion of curves around hips and bust and of a waist.
Good Styles are:
Any leg type works from skinny to wide leg. Washes, colour or embellishments work well to add volume to your petite frame. The only leg line that is not as great are a pair of blue pair straight jeans. Also avoid high rise jeans since they won’t give you the needed curves in the waistline.

Neat Hourglass: Best to wear fitted styles.
Good styles are:
The choice is yours, but watch it when choosing a baggy or distressed jeans style. All in moderation otherwise it will back fire.

Full Hourglass: You need to wear shaped styles in order to follow your body line, but avoid bulk and volume around your feminine curves.
Good styles are:
Simple and clean styles such as a classic straight leg are best. A narrowing, baggy or wide leg are tricky options. Say also say no to embellishments, washes or baggy styles.

Apple: Follow your body line – avoid details around bust, tummy and hips. Keep detail in top and lower thirds.
Good styles are:
A straight leg line is your winner. Forget the rest. Stick to clean lines without any extras.

Pear: You need to balance your top half with your lower half by wearing clothes that make your shoulders look broader. Completely the opposite to an inverted triangle.
Good styles are:
Boot cut denim is best and stick to darker colours as well no fuzz and buss in washes, pocket styles or embellishments. You don’t want any attention here.

Inverted Triangle: On your bottom half you need to wear jeans that make your hips look broader, so they balance with your broader shoulders.
Good Jeans styles are:
Add volume to your jeans with elaborate treatments, washes and rinses. The more eye catching and volume they got the better for you. Simple and classic style don’t cut it here. So, look out for boyfriend style, distressed look, baggy or coloured jeans, details in hip and thigh area e.g. various washes, ripped, embellishments, flared, boot cut, wide leg, turn ups, big back pockets.

Rectangle: You need to create the illusion of a waist
Good styles are:
Lines that will give you curves in your leg work well such as skinny legs, boot cut or flares. Avoid straight leg lines at all cost and be careful with wide leg styles. The can work but not always. Also a big no no to high rise jeans- they will make you look like a brick and highlight the lack of a waist. Choose rounder or slanted pockets on your bum, front or hips.

Michaela
P.S.:
No matter what your figure, a woman really needs at least two lengths of jeans, one to be worn with flats and the other with high-heels. Unless, you want to wearing boots with the jeans tucked inside, or you always roll up the legs and wear flats.

Black is one of the most popular colours to wear, especially in the UK. It is the favourite colour for investment buys such as a suit, coat or the famous little black dress and can make the wearer feel sophisticated, elegant, sexy or edgy. Unfortunately, contrary to popular belief, it’s not the most flattering colour on everybody – not everyone can wear black as a solid colour or near the face. The younger you are, the more you can get away with wearing black since youthful skin will always provide a nice contrast to black. But once you’re in your twenties when skin and features are get softer and you’re starting out in your first job it will start to matter. This is when you need to know how to make black work for you, whether it’s in your colour palette or not.
Light
Black is not in your palette but it can create a striking contrast if you have ash-blond hair. The secret is to keep black away from your face by choosing open necklines and wearing one of your key colours near your face. Softer fabrics like knits, jerseys, tweeds, corduroys and silks will absorb the light and soften the effect of the black. Your little black dress should be strappy or have a plunging neckline. Wear it with a coloured necklace or drape a scarf in one of your colours across your shoulders. Don’t overpower your look by wearing a strong lipstick and heavy eye make up unless you’re going to a glamorous event.

How to wear your palette

Deep
Black is a major part of your wardrobe and looks good on its own. Whether you wear black for work, at the weekend or to a party, the choice is yours, because it will always work for you. You can choose black in any fabric or texture, from leather to fine chiffon, as long as the garment is in the right style for your body shape, scale and proportion.

How to wear your palette

Warm
Black is not your best colour and therefore not in your colour palette. For best results combine black with one of the warm colours from your colour palette and wear black away from your face. If you wear black on its own, choose a low neckline, or wear a coloured scarf or necklace to help lift the black. Also note that softer or textured black fabrics will be more flattering, as this type of material absorbs light, making the black appear softer. Avoid the temptation to team it up with white.

Cool
Black is a key colour in your palette. You may wear it with many other colours but watch out – it may also cast a dark shadow under your chin, in which case avoid wearing black directly under your chin. Also, wearing black in a soft weave e.g. tweed, velvet or knit will absorb the light and therefore look less harsh on you. Try to brighten up your black with sparking jewellery or metallic accessories.

How to wear your palette

Clear
Black looks striking against the strong, dark tones of your hair and sparkling eyes and is one of the main colours in your palette. Your personal colouring is contrasting so having contrast in your clothing is key. Black is a fantastic colour to bring out the contrast by combining it with bright, light or unrelated colours e.g. red, white. Also, a black and pure white combination is always a stunning combination for day and night, on any occasion.

Soft
Black is not in your palette and should be worn always away from your face. Choose fabrics that are textured or soft, so the black is less harsh. Your little black dress needs to be soft and draping, with a low or plunging neckline to which you can add jewellery or a scarf, to distract from the black near your face. A dress that’s low cut, off the shoulder or sleeveless will be a better choice than anything with a high neckline because it puts enough space between your face and the dress.

Colour is individual, natural, magnetic, influential, emotional, therapeutic and joyful and the emotions it stirs are a vital part of a woman’s beauty and charm. Everyone is different – hair, skin and even eye colour change constantly with the play of light and shade, and these nuances mean that every woman can possess a colour of her very own, one as personal as her signature. Women who understand colour look more interesting, more in control, more confident, more self-assured and ultimately more attractive. These women have more personality in their looks, because they have created their own colour signature.

The choice of colours out there is enormous and can be not only confusing but also quite daunting. Why is it that sometimes a colour e.g. red looks great on you, then just ok and at other times doesn’t work at all? The answer is that every colour comes in different shades, tones and intensities. So, red is not just red – there is light red, pale red, pastel red, clear reds, soft red, dark reds, blue red, tomato red, .phpberry red etc. Once you know your dominant colour (which is based on your personal colouring) you’ll know which type of tones and shades of red look best on you and which look just ok. Also, note that colours will either lose or gain intensity with your choice of fabric. So a red linen can look lighter or softer, because it’s translucent, while a red corduroy might gain intensity because it’s a more heavily textured fabric.
In genral: Wearing red is the colour of power, sexiness and energy. Wear red and you’ll feel confident, dynamic and in control.
